Whoever Finds This, I Love You - 2004

Theme : Who to be blamed for the death of a 16 years old girl. She is the victim who trapped in the cruelty of the world with lack of love in her family and seeks it from her boyfriend who is abusive.

'Whoever finds this, I love you' is a title of an old song but using this title, inspires the story creator Ms. Latifah Y. E. to do this play for the production year 2004. With the help of Stephanie Lim, a form 5 student that year, she wrote the script of a play about a school girl that suffers from the trauma of her family crisis and the urge and needs to be like any other happy teens. Envy at her friends, the main actress named Angie, wishes she has the freedom to party with her friends and has a boyfriend of her own. With no friends to share her unhappiness, she expresses herself through her diary.

The story starts with a school girl played by the scriptwriter herself, walks from home passes through a park when she monologues of her frustrations about her family and school. She kicks onto something that she thought a stone, but instead is a book. She cleans it and opens to only encountered that it is a diary of a girl named Angie. She sits by a bench and starts reading it. On the left wing of the stage is the flashback of the diary. Lia is an unhappy girl. Her mother sews some clothes in order to get extra income for the family and her father is a strict man with alcoholic problem. Her parents always argue at home and she has to witness this. Through her diary, she expresses her unhappiness and wishes. One day, her classmate invited her for a birthday party and has helped her to lie to her parents in order for her to stay overnight at her friend's house. At the party, she has met with a mature man and has fallen in love with him. This man has influenced her to escape school and finally run away from home.

She is forced to work as a dancer in a club in order to support both her life and her boyfriend. She has only fallen into bigger trap by living with him. Her boyfriend has used and abuse her. Finally, she could not take the suffering and pains, she calls home requesting her parents to take her home. But it is too late, she is discovered by her boyfriend calling home and is strangled to death. Her parents came too late to only found her dead body.

The school girl who had read this diary, feels sorry for her and swear that she will do better in her life. She is grateful to have a loving and caring parents and takes the diary as a guide to her life, to avoid from falling into a wrong path as Angie did.

There are four scenes in this play : The living room, the park, the taxi stand and the bedroom. The stage is divided to two, the left wing as the flashback and the right wing as the diary reader.

The Sandakan Divisional Level English Drama Competition for Secondary School was held in Sandakan Community Centre Hall. Organized by Sandakan Education Department, along with St. Michael Secondary School, we lost to second place. The trophy won by St. Michael Secondary School with a play called "The Chair".
